- Starlink Router, cannot remove usersIn General Discussions·May 4, 2023Hi, I would like to know why starlink has decided to not allow you to remove people your own wifi network? There is not web interface... I recently had a "digicube" device come onto my network and gained assess through SSH to my machine. So i changed the password on the router by resetting it which was not easy. Next day the same device was back. but not for long once they realised SSH was disabled and 2fa enabled to access my machine. So it would appear its designed like this for a purpose I belive they stop you from having this ability incase Starlink wants to give access to your router password to the authorities so they can hack and perform MITM attacks on the target for harassment and investigation purupose (in that order) Starlink why dont you give us the ability to remove people from our own devices? change the password permantly. The only way to avoid such a attack is to use a second more secure router which Starlink cannot give them the password to and isolate or vlan your self off from the main router while using VPN. Then constructing a faiday cage around the starlink router to cut of wifi access. What does everyone else thing about this. Thanks.1697

- Starlink works fine but suddenly turns to Intermittent internet until dishy is rebootedIn Troubleshooting·July 26, 2022Hello all, a long story short, We live in a remote rural area in the southern coast of Mexico. I persuaded my friend to get the starlink antenna. We were so happy when we did our first speed test we got over 200 mbps. I told my friend that it is normal to get a few seconds of downtime once in a while. But as soon as we started to make use of the internet we started to get randomly intermittent internet service and never resumed to the previous steady speed before the failure until the starlink antenna gets restarted manually. I told my friend to submit a report via the app but days later he got an answer that the problem was on his side. Have any of you have experienced this problem? How did you fix it? Thank you in advanced for any help.161080
- Starlink Gen 2 cable extensionIn 2nd Gen DishyApril 20, 2022I ended up putting the router and ethernet adapter in a drywall bucket halfway to the dishy. I ran an AC extension cord and a Cat6 cable to the bucket as well. The Cat6 cable connects to the Asus RT- AX3000 router in my home network. This is a temporary move while waiting for my 150 ft cable from Starlink. It works fine.23
- New to Starlink - Gulf Coast FLIn General DiscussionsJuly 14, 2022Hello Paul, welcome to the community! I know of 2 systems set up that are using Starlink as there primary system and there other provider is the back-up system. You will need a network switch with 2 wan connections, there are lots on the market. Ideally if you can bond the connections and use it as one that would be the best but is expensive, using the secondary as a fail-safe connection is cheaper and easier to do. You should be able to do this easily with a little bit of research, do you know what equipment your using now in your network? You might even have it built in already…23
- Old Woman needs tvIn Troubleshooting·October 6, 2024Hey, interested gen4. Just wondering how long your system has lasted before having issues no extended warranty available. I’m 70 2yr warranty not long. Pricy if it goes bad couldn’t buy again. How does it do streaming for tv all I want. What parts normally have to be replaced? Thanks in advance. God bless1520
- Testing and observing new installationIn General Discussions·August 10, 2022I received the the StarLink dish, router and ethernet adapter last Friday. Saturday, I did a temporary connection with cable running in through a window, and noticed a new device showed up on my Eero routers - manufacturer: Tibro Corp. Looks like there is a relationship between Tibro and StarLink - I hadn’t noticed Frontier showing up as a connected device when it’s modem was connected to the Eero, but could have missed it. Is this a reasonable thing to have Tibro showing up as a connected device? The set up was without any issue - the one thing that surprised me was how much the speeds varied. I expected slowdown during peak demand times, but not necessarily the level. Highest I saw during speed test was 199 Mbps (6:11 am), and lowest was around 5 Mbps (9:59 pm). The other thing that surprised me is how much the speeds varied during the speed test - I continue to run speed tests to see when there is the most network congestion, but only occasionally use StarLinks speed test, as it runs for such a short duration. There is some usefulness of the StarLink speed tests, but running it multiple times in the span of a couple minutes can give drastically different results. For me, I get more meaningful results using SpeedOf.me - just passing this on in case it has value to others. I noticed posts on the forum which warned StarLink doesn’t work well in rainy weather - I hadn’t seen this until after I received the equipment. I had assumed, when I reserved a spot (18+ months ago) the performance would have been comparable to Dish or Direct TV’s. Sounds like it can shut down completely during bad weather. May not have to worry about that with the drought we’ve been experiencing 😒, but hopefully we will see rain coming our way. So, the question is how much does rainy weather affect transmission rates? Can drizzle shut things down, or does it take much more? 1 inch rain per hour "do it", or does it take much more water particles to degrade the signal? Thanks for any help you can give15325
- Looking for help with 2nd Gen Dishy - no signal at all since moving it to rural property it was bought for..In Troubleshooting·May 15, 2022I ordered Starlink for a second, rural property. I received the hardware at my urban residence, set it up there to test it and all was fine. I am not having as much luck now that I’ve brought it to the rural location. There are definitely more trees, but an open area not dissimilar to where I tried it in town. Even tried it on the roof… nada. I have reset to factory more than once and tried many reboots and still nothing. The app usually says it’s OFFLINE and sometimes says “STARLINK disconnected”… I understand the “dishy” should have complete unobstructed view of the sky - not possible here - but I’ve read it’s most important that it’s view to the north is open. Last few resets the dish doesn’t even seem to go thru the orientation phase, even though it says “Searching”.. I’ve been billed for 2 months already and have yet to get it working! Any assistance would be appreciated.. thanks!15261
- Pole or Roof Gable? In Installation Tips·June 6, 2022I am out in the absolute middle of nowhere in NW TN. I have a choice of installation locations, either of which will be done by a local licensed electrician I have found. Choice #1 is the roof gable. But I understand that sometimes the cable becomes slightly dislodged and can cause problems? No way I could get to the roof by myself to check it out or fix it. Same with perhaps needing to replace the cable. Choice #2 is a post mount in the back yard, about 35' away from the house. The Starlink app has indicated this would be a GREAT place for installation. First pic is the roof/gable mount area. Next pics are facing north and are app'd at GREAT. Thanks for any advice. (I'm kind of leaning to the pole mount for ease of troubleshooting...)15158
- Starlink Roaming Turned OnIn General Discussions·March 29, 2022Does anybody have there Starlink roaming activated? I've been seeing reports that an update went through and turned Roaming on to True for some systems. This can be found in the Debug Data advanced support on the app or browser 192.168.100.1. This is suppose to mean your dish is now mobile! I keep checking our Gen 1 but it keeps saying false.15364

- 75’ cable vs 150’ cableIn General Discussions·March 29, 2022Hi new to the group. Does any one know if there is a loss of power going with the optional 150’ cable over the standard 75’ cable. I hate to drastically cut my power down useing it, but it will be better for me in the long run. I received my 2nd gen in early February and have been using the 75’ with it and have speeds of 150 to 30mbps . I hate to reduce my speed even lower. At the time of this post I was at 79 mbps if I’m reading the speed test right . I think the one in the green is what tells me my actual speed?? Forgive me I’m rather novice on all this but trying to learn. We still have are old internet service which was radio to radio, on a good day we could squeeze out 4 yes 4 mbps so even 30’s mbps is heaven sent . Buying the oled TV’s have finally paid off. Please excuse this question if it’s all ready been asked . Thanks so much for your time and consideration. Dan153702
