- Change my account name or contact Starlink. In General Discussions·June 4, 2022My step son set up the starlink. He put it in his name but I pay the bill each month. Any idea how to change the account name to me? I have looked everywhere to contact starlink and I get nothing. I have even tried to message them over the app , still nothing.156179

- New to Starlink - Gulf Coast FLIn General Discussions·July 13, 2022New forum member here. Joined to learn and share my future experience with Starlink! I live on the gulf coast of Florida, in farm country about 30 mins from the coast. My neighborhood only has one ISP available. It is fiber and has mostly been reliable but since living here for (3 months now) we have had 2 internet outages, with the longer of the two lasting 6+ hours. As a work from home-er, and no other ISP options available, I decided to check starlink to see if it was available in the area. To my surprise it was available and I should now be receiving my starlink in a couple of weeks. I was surprised because I have been hearing that some people are having to wait until 2023. My goal with starlink is to use it as a redundant internet backup source for when our main source goes down. Anyone else doing this? -Paul1474
- dish automatically aligns at about 25 degree tilt and oriented towards the NorthIn 2nd Gen Dishy·November 2, 2022I live 75 miles north of San Francisco. The dish automatically aligns at about 25 degree tilt and oriented towards the North. The field of view is clear for 95% of this orientation on top of my roof. However I have a tall redwood tree about 100 feet away from my house. The app says partially obstructed and interruption every 3 minutes. If the tilt could be 20 degrees or less; I would have no problems. Or to point the dish toward the East, South or West. Starlink tech support says the dish orientation is fixed. This does not seem intelligent or flexible to me. Any suggestions? Thanks and best regards.14181
- Deep power saving mode?In General Discussions·March 31, 2022In late 2021 Starlink engineers said they were working hard on a deep power saving mode to fix the 100 watt 24/7 power usage problem. 1) Have there been any updates? 2) Timeline? If it won't be soon I will need to install 3 or 4 way switches to be able to turn power off/on from both upstairs and downstairs. 3) Are there any known problems with removing power from a Starlink system when not in use? 4) When power is switched back on does Starlink start back up automatically? I live off grid using solar. Please, none of the usual remarks from cheap grid power users that 100 watts 24/7 is not very much.14941

- All is great until it's notIn 2nd Gen DishyJune 21, 2023Yes, issue resolved. Starlink replaced the router first, no joy. Then they replaced the entire system one week out of warranty …. I assume that this was because I have been having a problem for the month prior. New Starlink resolved the issue, but wound up with a 50 foot cable as opposed to the 75 that came with my original V2. Wi-Fi range of the new system was not as good due to the shorter cable, but I was so happy it was working that I purchased an extender and a network port adapter. Range did not improve when the extender is located in the required room however, I was pleased to find that the network port adapter can plug into the extender and give a hardwired port, rather than in line between dish and router. Not sure how many people are aware of this.21

- 75’ cable vs 150’ cableIn General DiscussionsMarch 29, 2022Hello Daniel and welcome to the group. There will be minimal difference between the 75’ and 150’ cables…you would need a special machine to detect the millisecond difference, so your good to put the 150 in place. I have a Gen 1 system that ran on a 300ft cat extension and never noticed any difference. As far as reading the speed test in the app, the blue circle is your full speed being delivered to the house, the green is the speed being delivered to that device…check out the article https://www.starlinkcommunityforums.com/post/understanding-the-starlink-app-speedtest-v2.21
