I don't have a dish yet. One of the main things about living off grid is researching power requirements of everything before buying it. By making a few intelligent choices I use about 1/5 the power of an average on grid home. If people researched things ahead of time and then refused to buy energy wasters Earth wouldn't be in so much trouble.
After all is said and done Starlink by itself will cost around $1000 CAD. This I can easily justify. But if I can't find a way to reduce what my research shows to be an average of 100-150 watts 24/7 then I would need to install additional solar panels and LiFePo4 batteries just to support Starlink. This could easily easily be an additional $4000. I can not justify that.
Since any addition to my electrical system needs to be before I buy Starlink I need to know what Starlink's true energy usage and/or ways to reduce it might be before I can make the decision to purchase.
