Yeah, I'm here in the Bahamas (part of North America I believe) with fellow cruisers (and homeowners) that rave about their Starlink service. Just didn't know if I was screwing myself by not initiating my service in the States. --- The unit got hung up in customs but it's free now so I should receive it by week's end...will let you know how it goes. Heard back from Starlink AGAIN...twice in two days! Hi Ron, Please share the address you would like to change it to. You may add portability, but it is not necessary as it is RV. We are currently not live in The Bahamas., service in The Bahamas is expected to arrive in 2023. There is a high chance you will not be able to successfully use your unit. We look forward to hearing from you. SOoooo. Now I'm not sure what to make of this as I'm with fellow-cruisers here in the Bahamas and they are raving about their Starlink service.

Well, I finally heard back from StarLink. Doesn't sound good: Hi Ron, Thank you for reaching out to Starlink, we appreciate your time. Unfortunately you will not be able to set the kit up in the Bahamas. As it was purchased in the U.S, it is currently registered to only work within the same continent. I would advise to complete the set up in the United States. I hope this information was helpful. Please reach back out to us if you have any further questions.

Thanks for the link. To clarify... I purchased in (and set location as) USA...then, before receiving, I had it forwarded to Bahamas. Now I'm about to open/initiate the unit and I fear it will not allow me to do so in the Bahamas, because I purchased/registered it in the USA. --- I will try the link. Thank you. RH

UGH...I fear I have screwed myself and am now paying monthly for service I can't access. Unless, I am able to turn on the portability option upon initiation here in the Bahamas (sounds like that's not how it works...rather I should have initiated in U.S. and then turned it on). I would request a change of service from Starlink prior to opening the unit...but I'm fairly certain that their customer support is nonexistent. FYI: I am on a boat in the Bahamas for the winter...will then return to the States in the Spring.

Thanks but not sure that answers my question...or maybe I'm just thick. Will I encounter service address issues if I ordered my unit in the US and I open/initiate it in the Bahamas?
