"How to Minimize Your Power Consumption There are a variety of ways in which you can minimize the power consumption of your Starlink hardware. In late January, Starlink introduced a new feature called Sleep Schedule, which essentially allows you to put your dishy into sleep mode. I mostly put mine to sleep at nighttime. Users on Facebook and Reddit reported that power consumption during sleep mode drops to about 25 watts. Before the feature was introduced, the most commonly used method, especially for those traveling, was simply to unplug the hardware during times of inactivity. If you’re technical and experimental enough, then you can also purchase a DC PoE (Power Over Ethernet) injector for your dishy like this one here. Converting from AC to DC should allow you to cut your power consumption in half. However, you will be stripped of your warranty if you modify the hardware according to Starlink’s Terms of Service. I would personally and strongly advise against doing that, simply because voltages at the above-mentioned levels can be lethal. I just ran some tests. Starlink pulls between 21 - 50watts (with the "Snow Melt" feature turned off). The Amps moved between .2 to .5amps. I'm very interested in this "Deep Power saving" mode feature as well for Off the Grid camping.

Very good point, thank you for that, I will definitely bring it. My plan is to use the original shipping box to store and transport Dishy and it's parts. The ground mount will be easy to bring along then. I also picked up the 150ft cable just in case I need to find that perfect spot while camping.

Thank you for this information. I'm glad to see that I'm on the right track providing extra coverage for the router. Also, I saw the warnings on this site about how "fragile" the connectors appear to be. I was thinking of building a small, clamp on protector for the end as I will need to plug and unplug it from the router while transporting to and from RV locations.

I would have a concern about the tree swaying during windy conditions. Please update this post if you do decided to install in the tree?
